Democratic State Representative Lance Yednock passed a proposal in the Illinois House this week that would require the state to buy products made in the state.
Yednock believes the measure would help create and support local jobs, and keep taxpayer dollars in state. He also says taxpayer dollars used to make purchases should stay in Illinois.
House Bill 357 also says that, if Illinois products are not available for purchase, state agencies then would be required to purchase American-made products.
The bill cleared the House on Wednesday and it’s on its way to the State Senate.
