It’s been a pretty quiet summer when it comes to severe thunderstorms. There’s a chance that could change today.
The National Weather Service has the western part of the Illinois Valley under an “enhanced” risk of severe weather Monday with the rest of the area looking at a “slight” risk. Storms could bring damaging winds, hail, heavy rain and a tornado or two. Flash flooding could be a problem this evening.
The best chance of severe weather is expected to be south of Interstate 80.
