If you or a loved one heads to a hospital in the Illinois Valley, you’re in good hands.
The patient safety watchdog group called “Leapfrog Group” has put out grades for over 100 hospitals statewide. OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa received an “A” safety grade while St Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley received a spring grade of “B”. Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru received a “C” grade while hospitals in Mendota and Princeton weren’t graded.
All three hospitals did well when it came to communications between staff and patients. St. Elizabeth also graded well in having enough qualified nurses while St. Margaret’s graded well with surgical treatment while IVCH graded well with talking about medications with patients. All three hospitals did bad when it comes to patient falls and injuries.
