Nighttime parking restrictions will be in place in downtown Ottawa this week, Monday through Thursday. No parking will be allowed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on LaSalle or Columbus from Superior to the Illinois River bridge.
This is part of a 4.6-million-dollar project to resurface Route 23 and make ADA sidewalk improvements. Crews will put down the first layer of new asphalt this week. Once that’s done, the sidewalk work will begin. When the sidewalks are done, the final layer of asphalt will go down.
IDOT expects the sidewalk work alone to take a couple of months. And the whole project should go to late fall. During that time, you’ll be able to get to businesses and homes, with occasional overnight inaccessibility. But a good rule of thumb is, expect delays if you’re driving in downtown Ottawa over the next few months.
