While an exact motive may never be made public, one of the two murder victims found in Ottawa over the weekend went to court against the gunman.
According to court records in KendallCounty, 49-year-old Nicol Scolaro filed an order of protection against 48-year-old Christopher Stankovich in both 2015 and 2019. Investigators think Stankovich shot and killed Scolaro and 51-year-old Paul Ladue in their Ottawa home on Deleon Street. Their bodies were found with multiple gunshot wounds Friday night after police responded to a well-being check.
Stankovich was found the next morning in his home in Plano, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had gotten arrested last month in Plano for violating an order of protection and domestic battery.
