There are some new developments in the case involving a Mendota High School teacher accused of sexually abusing a student.
Fifty-six-year-old John Holzman of Mendota appeared in La Salle County Court Thursday. He revealed that Attorney David Kaleel is his choice to represent him. Holzman then asked for and received permission to leave the state while out on $15,000 bond.
He was arrested Monday after a more than month long investigation. Holzman is charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Investigators say they made the arrest after taking a look at pictures, text messages and phone records.
Holzman is next due in court for arraignment on July 18th.
