The LaSalle County Board Thursday voted to suspend Deputy Auditors Tori Artman and Pamela Wright, without pay and without county-funded benefits, within 30 days.
Artman and Wright were arrested in September for allegedly claiming more than a thousand dollars in overtime pay that they hadn’t actually earned. The pair had been banned from the government complex, but not suspended. Board member Randy Freeman of Lostant made the motion to suspend them.
Before the vote could happen, though, Board Member Brian Dose of Ottawa unsuccessfully tried table the matter for a time. Here’s why.
Board members Mike Kasap of LaSalle and Joe Witzcak of Peru voted “no” on suspension for these reasons, and because they feel the process should be worked through the proper committee.
Artman and Wright are due back in court on Monday.
