It was a “Girl Scout” takeover of Starved Rock Saturday – sort of. Lisa Sons of Starved Rock State Park said over 200 girls scouts and their parents visited with plenty to see and do.
The scouts played games, took in a junior ranger, Scout Patch programs and movies, took guided hikes and met Smokey the Bear. Members of the Army Corp of Engineers, U.S. Forest Service and IDNR opened up booths.
Twelve volunteers assisted Sons in what was called “Girl Scouts Love State Parks”. From all indications, the event will return next summer.
