Over the past year in some of the biggest cities in the Illinois Valley, gamblers lost nearly $20 million.
During the 12 month period ending with this November, gamblers in Ottawa lost $5.8 million on video gambling machines. Streator wasn’t far behind, with $5.3 million lost.
Peru and La Salle also cashed out several million dollars less than they put in. Peru players lost more than $4.3 million while La Salle losses were a little less, at $3.7 million.
The cities those machines are located in did see some of those losses. About $963,000 went to the cities that host the machines.
