The cause of a fire that gutted Dairy Queen in Peru is undetermined according to Peru Fire Chief Jeff King.
The chief estimates the monetary damage of Tuesday morning’s blaze at $500,000. Several fire departments rushed to the restaurant along Route 251 just after four o’clock this morning. King says when the first crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames from the kitchen and storage area of the restaurant. The chief says the fire was knocked down in less than an hour.
King says a passerby saw smoke and initially called the fire in to 9-1-1. The state fire marshal’s office is helping to investigate a cause.
