While the Illinois Valley isn’t included in bobcat hunting, maybe that should change.
A man driving on Route 29 Saturday morning between DePue and Spring Valley found a dead bobcat on the side of the road. He phoned the Conservation Police who have turned the big cat over to a wildlife biologist.
Conservation Police Sgt. Phil Wire thinks someone hit and killed the bobcat Friday night into Saturday morning. He says four other bobcats have been found dead along roadsides in the past year in Bureau and Putnam County.
Wire says it’s hard to tell how many bobcats are around because they are elusive.
