If you’re an elected official in La Salle County, consider yourself warned.
After losing a theft case against County Auditor Jody Wilkinson on Friday, State’s Attorney Karen Donnelly took to her Facebook page to say “I don’t care about being popular, I care about reform.” She goes on to say “It won’t happen all at once, but the days of cutting corners, stealing only a little and looking the other way are coming to an end.” Her Facebook message was far more than what she had to say to reporters after Friday’s not guilty verdict was announced.
The Republican Donnelly is also trying to convict her predecessor Brian Towne on several counts of official misconduct and theft. His case though has hit a standstill. Charges against Towne were first filed in September of 2017.
